Marcus Ehning wins the Grand Prix of St. Gallen
Marcus Ehning in St. Gallen: big win for great rider

The year 2026 has not been particularly kind to Marcus Ehning so far. He had to take several weeks off due to a knee injury. His horses were kept fit by his family and team during this time. Now he could thank them generously. 150,000 euros for today’s victory in the Grand Prix of St. Gallen.
With his 13-year-old Holsteiner Coolio, who came third at the European Championships, Ehning was one of only three pairs to answer the questions posed by course designers Gérard Lachat and Reno Ruflin correctly twice. And Ehning was the one who was the fastest against the clock with a time of 46.08 seconds. He was therefore certain of triumph.
Women’s duo on two and three
This was not the only German top three placing today in the Grand Prix of St. Gallen. Pia Reich took the second with her long-standing successful partner PB Löwenherz. The 14-year-old Hanoverian by Levisto is Swiss-owned, so the pair’s third place was also a bit of a success for the hosts.
In between was the Austrian Katharina Rhomberg with the Colestus son Colestus Camebridge. This was not a surprise. Rhomberg and her eleven-year-old Westphalian proved that they are a force to be reckoned with this season with fourth place in the Badenia in Mannheim this year and a week later they won their first five-star Grand Prix in Versilia. Today they finished second in St. Gallen after Rhomberg and her second top horse Cuma secured second place for Austria in the Nations Cup with two clear rounds. What a weekend!
Also placed from a German perspective: René Dittmer with Cody, who had one knockdown in both rounds. They finished eighth. Another success for the man from Stade, whose path to the top of the show jumping world can be followed here.
