A few days ago, Marcus Ehning received the devastating diagnosis that he will not be able to put any weight on his knee for several weeks. It's good when the family can step in. You could see how well this works at the CSI2* in Riesenbeck this weekend.

Marcus Ehning was there to watch the show at the Beerbaum stables in Riesenbeck. And he had plenty to watch and coach, as his top horses competed there under his brother Johannes and with his sister-in-law Kaya Ehning.

The winner of the Grand Prix was Laura Klaphake on the ten-year-old Diamant de Semilly son Quizano van het Merelsnest. A great success for the pair, who have been riding together since 2024 but have never won a competition. Today was the day.

Third behind Klaphake and Poland’s Jaroslaw Skryczynski on Komboy was Kaya Ehning, riding Marcus Ehning’s Holsteiner Hickstead daughter Flower Girl. Kaya’s husband Johannes was the runner-up with Priam du Roset. So things are already off to a good start with Marcus Ehning’s stand-in riders for his top horses.

Speaking of which – Stargold, who had been injured for a long time, also made a comeback. Johannes presented him yesterday in a 1.40 meter jumping competition in the medium tour, was clear and placed. However, here too he had to give way to his wife. When Clara Blau won on Cinsey EK, Kaya Ehing was second with Baloubets Rose Dree Boeken and Johannes was eighth. However, with the recently recovered Aachen winner Stargold, he will not have been looking for speed either.

“Our horses had a very good weekend with our substitute riders due to injury,” Marcus Ehning summed up on Instagram and thanked the family for their support.
