FEI Releases Nominated Entries for Aachen; U.S. Announces Eventing Team
FEI “Nominated Entries” Lists Online – U.S. Eventing Team for the World Championships Finalized
Photo: ALRV/Michael Strauch July 6 marked the deadline for nominations of riders and horses eligible for the World Championships in Aachen from August 11 to 23. As of today, the FEI’s “Nominated Entries” are now online. These are, in a sense, the longlists. However, some nations have already finalized their selections and announced their teams. From Germany’s perspective, the show jumping team, the dressage team, the para-dressage team, and the vaulting team have already been finalized. The driving and eventing teams are still to be announced. However, there is still some time before the “Definite Entries” are announced. The deadline for that is July 27.
The list for the jumping event can be found here.

U.S. Names Eventing Team
The most recent team roster to be finalized is that of the U.S. eventing team. And it looks good.
The team is led by the two Kentucky winners, William Coleman riding Diabolo. Coleman has already won the CCIO4*-S in Aachen with his other horse, Off the Record—a competition that, as is well known, is also quite challenging. But the 14-year-old Holsteiner, Diabolo (by Diarado; breeder: Fritz Maschmann), won the five-star competition in Kentucky. The now 17-year-old Off the Record is listed as a reserve for Coleman, however, as is the 11-year-old Irish mare Very Dignified.
Veteran rider Philipp Dutton, who competed in his first Olympic Games 30 years ago and has since ridden seven times under the Olympic flame, plans to enter the 13-year-old KWPN gelding Possante by Namelus R. The pair were part of the teams that placed second in Aachen and Boekelo last year. This year, they placed eighth at the CCI4*-S Kentucky, among other results.
Another highly experienced and decorated rider is Boyd Martin. Among other achievements, he was a member of the U.S. team that won silver at the 2022 World Championships in Pratoni. He is riding the 12-year-old Irish horse Cooley Nutcracker by Tolan R. In 2024 in Paris, the horse was still ridden by Liz Halliday, who had been in an accident. Martin acquired Nutcracker from her, just as he did Shanroe Cooley, who placed third at Luhmühlen. But Cooley Nutcracker has proven to be a consistent performer, with a CCI4*-L victory in Mill Spring, a third-place finish in Pau in 2025, and an eleventh-place finish at this year’s CCI5*-L Kentucky.
Caroline Pamukcu was also a member of the 2024 U.S. Olympic team, and even back then she was riding the Irish horse HSH Blake—who is also a descendant of Tolan R.—whom she trained herself. At their first championship, the 2023 Pan American Games, they won individual gold and team silver. This year, they placed second in Kentucky.
Tamra “Tamie” Smith is also one of the most successful eventing riders in the U.S. She was also a member of the 2022 World Championship silver medal-winning team, riding with Mai Baum at the time. Now she plans to introduce the ten-year-old Holsteiner mare Lillet by Livello-Calido I (breeder: Morena Petersen). Lillet was brought into competition by Andreas Dibowski and, riding with him, represented Germany twice at the World Championships for Young Eventing Horses. Since 2024, she has been competing under Smith and has racked up a string of victories with her up to the CCI4* level. However, the pair has yet to make their five-star debut.
