Britons Name 15 Teams as Candidates for the World Championships in Aachen in Eventing

Once again, the British eventing riders are the clear favorites to win medals. Here are the 15 nominees for the World Championships in Aachen.

The following British pairs were selected and stand a good chance of flying the Union Jack high at the World Championships in Aachen:



  • Sarah Bullimore (53) with Corimiro, a 10-year-old SHBGB gelding by Amiro Z-Lovis Corinth >, whom she bred herself; bronze medalist at the 2022 World Championships for Young Eventing Horses, no other championship experience to date; first CCI5*-L in Pau in 2025: fifth place; Badminton in 2026: tenth place.



  • Rosalind Canter (40) riding Lordships Graffalo, a 14-year-old SHBGB gelding by Birkhof’s Grafenstolz TSF-Rock King (breeders: Lordships Stud and Pennie Wallace GBR) > Olympic team champion, two-time European champion in 2023, fourth place at the 2022 World Championships, three-time Badminton winner, two-time Burghley winner, and so much more…



  • Laura Collett ( 36) riding London 52, a 17-year-old Holsteiner gelding by Landos-Quinar (breeder: Ocke Riewarts, GER) > 2025 European Champion, two-time Olympic team champion, and 2024 individual bronze medalist; winner of the CCI5*-L competitions in Badminton, Luhmühlen, and Pau



  • David Doel ( 33) with Galileo Nieuwmoed, a 15-year-old KWPN gelding by Carambole-Harcos(breeders: J. W. and A. P. Jurrius, NED) > No championship titles yet, but third place in Kentucky in 2026, plus other top-ten finishes in the CCI5*-L competitions at Badminton and Pau in 2022, Kentucky and Burghley in 2023, Luhmühlen and Maryland in 2024, and Pau in 2025.



  • Caroline Harris ( 36) with D. Day, a 12-year-old AES gelding by Billy Mexico-Dilum xx (breeder: Fiona Olivier GBR) > the CCI5*-L winners from Luhmühlen, who had also won in Pau in 2024 and were nominated for the 2025 European Championships, but had some bad luck here.



  • Yasmin Ingham ( 29) with Gypsie du Loir, a 10-year-old Selle Français mare by Herald-Canaletto (breeder: Pierre Gouye, FRA) > Ingham is the defending champion, though she won that title with Banzai du Loir, who was withdrawn from his last three competitions. Gypsie du Loir, a great-granddaughter of Heraldik xx, comes from the same breeding farm but is not related to him. She won the CCI4*-S at Bramham a year ago and placed fifth in this year’s CCI4*-L at the same venue.



  • Tom Jackson ( 33) riding United, a 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Ucello-Espri (breeder: Heinrich Bohmke, GER) > United placed eighth twice at the World Championships for Young Eventing Horses with trainer Max Warburton; he has been competing with Jackson since 2025 and most recently placed fourth at Badminton.



  • Katie Magee ( 44) with Treworra, a 12-year-old SHBGB gelding by Jaguar Mail-Tower of Magic (breeder: Preci Spark Ltd, GBR) > —no championship titles yet, but most recently placed fifth at Badminton.



  • Tom McEwen ( 35) riding Brookfield Quality, a 17-year-old Irish horse by OBOS Quality-Cavalier Royale (breeder: Sean Kelly, IRL), and JL Dublin, a 15-year-old Holsteiner gelding by Diarado-Cantano (breeder: Volker Göttsche-Götze GER) > Riding Brookfield Quality, McEwen placed second in Aachen in 2025 and fifth in Kentucky in 2026, among other results. With JL Dublin, he won team gold and placed fourth in the individual standings at the 2024 Olympics; he also won individual bronze at the 2025 European Championships, placed second in Kentucky in 2023 and 2024, third in Pau in 2023, and ninth in Badminton in 2025.



  • Harry Meade ( 42) riding Cavalier Crystal, a 16-year-old Irish mare by Jack of Diamonds out of Cavalier Royale (breeder: Thomas Horgan IRL) > No championship titles yet, but placed third at Burghley in 2023, 2024, and 2025, fourth at Badminton in 2025, etc. However, she was eliminated at Badminton most recently after the rider fell.



  • Selina Milnes ( 51) riding Cooley Snapchat, a 12-year-old Irish horse by Kannan-VDL Arkansas (breeder: Alan Wheeler, IRL) > —no championship titles yet, but has finished twice at Pau and won a four-star event, most recently placing second at the CCI4*-L in Bramham



  • Gemma Stevens ( 41) with Cooley Park Muze, a 10-year-old Irish horse by Pollux de Muze Z-L’Arc de Triomphe (breeder: TJM Equestrian IRL) and Flash Cooley, a 14-year-old Irish horse by CSF Mr Kroon-OBOS Quality (breeder: Jim O’Neill IRL) > Stevens is a two-time European team champion and a one-time World team champion, competed at the 2016 Olympics, won the CCI4*-S with Cooley Park Muze, and most recently placed fifth at the CCI4*-L in Chaumont-en-Vexin, where Flash Cooley won the dressage test.



  • Bubby Upton ( 27) with Its Cooley Time, an 11-year-old Irish horse by Quality Time out of TN-Heartbreaker (breeder: Ishennisnag Stud IRL) >, made his championship debut at the 2025 European Championships in Bleinheim but was eliminated after the rider fell. However, he recently won the CCI4*-L in Bramham.


The five pairs ultimately selected to represent Aachen will be chosen based on their current fitness and performance. The names of the selected athletes will be announced at a later date.
