The first qualifier for the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen went to Ireland's Daniel Coyle. But the German pairs were also on top form.

Frank Rothenberger had built a 1.55 meter course for a timed jumping competition as the first qualifier for the Grand Prix, the Rolex Grand Prix of the TsCHIO Aachen 2026, at the Soers. The fastest against the clock was Ireland’s Daniel Coyle on the KWPN gelding Farrell by Cardento. He earned 37,500 euros in 70.99 seconds.

Luciana Diniz took second place on her favorite course in Brazil with top horse Vertigo du Desert, who looked like the winner for a long time with a time of 71.47 seconds. Kevin Staut and Feline de Hus HDC came within 0.1 seconds of her and Scott Brash in the saddle on Doha winner Hello Mango was also fast with 71.83 seconds.

After that came the best Germans, led by the World Cup runners-up Daniel Deußer and Otello de Guldenboom, who came within four hundredths of a second of Richard Vogel and Phenyo van het Keyserbos. They were followed by the Hamburg winners, André Thieme and Chakaria. Sandra Auffarth and Quirici H also finished in ninth place.

Other clear rounds were delivered by Sophie Hinners with Combella, Philipp Weishaupt on Kilmister, Marcus Ehning with Coolio and Christian Kukuk with Checker. And the competition included World Cup winners Kent Farrington and Greya, the best female show jumper in the world, Nina Mallevaey (FRA) with Dynastie de Beaufour and Ben Maher with Enjeu de Grisien. In short: It’s going to be exciting this weekend!

United Touch sends its son

Crowd favourite Richard Vogel had his star United Touch S start the competition today relaxed over 1.45 meters and completed a clear round. It was a different story with his son, the eight-year-old United Call JPS, who, like his sire, is bred and owned by Julius-Peter Sinnack. The Holstein gelding made his international debut in the Youngster Tour today with Vogel. And what a debut it was. First time CDI, first time Aachen, first victory in an unbeatable 30.07 seconds against the clock in the second phase – without jumping faults, of course.

Also in the money were Gerrit Nieberg with the also “home-grown” Duke by Diamant de Plaisir (6th place), Daniel Deußer on Silence Dwerse Hagen by Nixon van’t Meulenhof directly behind him, Marcus Ehning on the only seven-year-old Bamako de Muze daughter Byblosh-K (8th place), Sophie Hinners with the 2024 Bundeschampion Arezzo Man by Arezzo VDL (11th place) and in her slipstream René Dittmer on Cajero by Casall.), Sophie Hinners with the 2024 Bundeschampion Arezzo Man by Arezzo VDL (11th) and in her slipstream René Dittmer on Cajero by Casall as well as the new man in the Beerbaum stable, Philipp Schulze Topphoff on Cortez FZ.

Julien Epaillard had previously won the opening jumping competition in the saddle on Easy Up de Grandry. Christian Ahlmann and Sheeran WL were the best German pair in sixth place. However, most of the riders in this competition were not aiming for ribbons, but for a good start to the tournament.
