Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de Franz Trischberger and Henriettenhof’s Kinshasa OLD won the first dressage test as part of the Grand Tour at Pferd International in Munich. The Oldenburg mare, once tenth in the final of the Nuremberg Burg Pokal, came out on top of the field, not least due to her talent for piaffe and passage. The mare sits very well in the piaffe in particular, lowers the group significantly and manages to maintain her diligence in the downhill movements. Franz Trischberger made good use of the one meter allowed forward in this Intermédiaire II in the piaffe. Perhaps it was sometimes a few centimeters more. However, this suited the largely supple and fluid transitions into the passage.
It could easily have been 72+ percent
The pair made a big mistake. When cantering from the walk, the mare didn’t seem to understand exactly what was required at first. She then jumped into an outside canter and horse and rider were only together again shortly before the second corner of the short side. Trischberger was correspondingly conservative in the subsequent medium canter over the diagonal.
The Bordeaux daughter also has a lot to offer in the canter tour: be it the already well-placed pirouettes with a lot of weight bearing, or the series changes. However, one would have liked the latter lesson to be even less unsteady in the future. With a score of 71.1 percent, there was no denying them victory on the day.
Capital in four respects
Perhaps the biggest horse in the entire competition was presented by Yara Reichert: Force Majeure, Oldenburg, a real horse in guard size. The black horse, once sold at Ulrich Kasselmann’s P. S. I. auction and previously ridden to the final by Olympic champion Frederic Wandres at the Bundeschampionat, showed great talent for the piaffe. In keeping with the nature of the competition, DERBY Stars von Morgen aims to put both two- and four-legged talents in the spotlight, the ten-year-old still lacked a little power. This was particularly noticeable in the passage, where the Fürstenball son often went too far through the hind legs.
What could be seen in the piaffe was also evident in the pirouettes: High willingness to collect, although in the right pirouette the black horse did not quite have the strength to carry himself to the end of the 360-degree turn and clearly tipped in the poll. 70.737 percent, second place.
Get a routine
Nicole Casper came third with Birkhof’s Zabalou. The pair, who had already competed in the Louisdor Prize qualifier in Hagen at Horses and Dreams, started safely. In the first third of the task, however, there was a misunderstanding between rider and horse. The gelding did not really understand the help for the passage, then blocked briefly, but after a light tap on the neck, confidence and calmness were restored, so that he then came safely to the first piaffe on the half-diagonal.
The piaffe, as well as the transitions to the passages, are among the main talents of the Zalando son. What we would like to see in the future is the Zack grandson carrying a little more in the hind leg in the piaffe and not leaning so much on the front legs. In terms of rhythm and balance, however, this lesson of the highest collection was already very confident and natural. Overall, the trainer succeeded in presenting the gelding, a maternal son of the stallions Lord Leopold and Topas, less tightly than in Hagen in the canter angle. The duo from Swabia scored 69.474 percent.

CDI 3* Grand Prix for Simone Pearce
The first Grand Prix has also already taken place on the former Olympic site in Munich-Riem. There are always two Grand Prix tours at Pferd International, one at three-star level and one at five-star level. Jessica von Bredow-Werndl will be competing there with Kismet, among others.
Simon Pearce won the Grand Prix of the CDI3* tour with Will Marq. The pair built on their good performances at the Mannheim Maimarkt show. 71.892 percentage points and ranked first by all judges was the result for the Australian. The combination of Shiva NRW and Nadine Plaster came second with a personal best. The Sir Heinrich daughter scored 70.109 percent. Even more points would have been possible had it not been for a costly mistake in the series changes in canter. Third place went to Austria’s Florian Bacher with Da Vinci, 68.305 percent.
