Conference: Why Does Germany Dominate Dressage—and What Does That Mean?

Conference as part of the 2026 World Championships in Aachen At the helm of the expert panel: Kyra Kyrklund, a Finnish Olympian and one of the most prominent voices in international dressage. Joining her are, among others, Diana Al Ahaer, chair of the FEI Dressage Committee; national team coach Monica Theodorescu; FEI judge Bernhard Maurel; and author Dr. Britta Schöffmann.
Ethics and Dressage
We are particularly looking forward to the presentation by Prof. Dr. Sabine Döring. She will address the ethical foundations of German dressage—and explore what current developments mean for its future. Her lecture builds on a colloquium organized by the Bibliothèque Mondiale du Cheval, which took place in 2024 at the Palace of Versailles on the sidelines of the Olympic Games. The title of that event was “Games and Challenges”—and among other topics, it focused on the future of equestrian sports in the Olympic program.
The Bibliothèque Mondiale du Cheval is a French research and digitization project based at the Université de Caen Normandie. Its goal is to build the world’s largest digital knowledge portal dedicated to horses and equestrian culture, make it publicly accessible, and preserve it for future generations.
Practical sessions in the morning, cultural events in the afternoon
Admission to the conference is free of charge. The morning is dedicated to practitioners, while the afternoon focuses on cultural presentations.
