Isabell Werth and Back for Good had won the qualifier for the Louisdor Prize at the Anakenenhof in Pinneberg. It later turned out that they were not eligible to compete because the gelding did not have the S-level placement required for entry. That has now changed—though only on their second attempt.

From Hamminkeln via Guxhagen-Dörnhagen to Frankfurt? At least, that seems to be Isabell Werth’s plan. The Olympic champion’s victory in Pinneberg in the qualifier for the Louisdor Prize final had been revoked from her and Back for Good. Background: In order to enter a horse in a qualifying competition for the junior series for Grand Prix horses, the horse must have a placing in an S-level dressage competition. Lawyer Werth—or the person responsible for entries at Stall Werth—had apparently overlooked this fine print. As a result, the large-framed chestnut gelding’s clear victory at the Anakenenhof was retroactively disqualified.

Needed an S-level placement on his second attempt

. On September 26, Isabell Werth’s trainer Niklaas Feilzer rode the DSP gelding in a Prix St. Georges in Hamminkeln. 66.14 percent, with failed flying changes to five jumps. That wasn’t quite enough. But: qualified for the Intermédiaire I.

The next day, this test was on the schedule. There were no major course errors, and Feilzer won the Intermédiaire I with a score of 71.27 percent. With this result, the son of Ben Benicio (breeder: Uwe Ogonowski) now formally meets the criteria to compete in a qualifying competition for the Louisdor Prize.

This coming weekend offers the last chance to secure a starting spot at the Festhalle in Frankfurt: The final qualifiers will take place in Guxhagen-Dörnhagen, not only for young Grand Prix horses but also for the Nuremberg Burg Cup. The fields of participants are large.

Dressursport Kim was the first to report on Back for Good’s entry.
