Photo: FEI/Libby Law Four Germans in the top ten, three of them from the delegation that competed in the Nations Cup. At the CCIO4*-S in Marbach, national coach Peter Thomsen had a good laugh. Not only because the German team had won the Nations’ Cup on the Swabian Alb.
With Michael Jung and Julia Krajewski there was also a German double victory to celebrate in the individual decision: Two Olympic champions, one, the winner, with his Olympic champion fischerChipmunk FRH, the other, Julia Krajewski, with the Irish rider Tullabeg Platinum in second place.
Top 10 three times
Michael Jung did not get the very best out of Chipmunk on the cross-country course on Saturday and finished with 6.8 time faults. He then brought the result, 28.0, home safely over the course in the Marbach stadium on Sunday.
Julia Krajewski and the twelve-year-old Irish horse “Paul” also completed the course without dropping a ball. With 32.9 points, they finished in second place in the individual classification. The third team rider, European team champion Libussa Lübbeke, brought her family-bred Caramia FRH through Sunday’s jumping with one knockdown (37.9). The one jumping fault thwarted an all-German podium. Without the four penalty points, the pair would have finished in third place, but ended up in seventh.
Debut for Zuccini MN
The fourth German team rider, Ben Leuwen, had conceded a knockdown at the jump-off of the double combination after passing Zuccini MN in the cross-country. With 76.1 penalty points, the duo delivered the scratch result. It was the first Nations Cup outing for the nine-year-old Holsteiner, who is supported by the Road2LA initiative.
Clear victory for the German team
Team Germany was in front with 98.8 minus points. They were followed by the delegation from Belgium (123.3), who had come to the Swabian Alb with two Olympic riders, Karen Donckers (with Leipheimer van’t Verahof 41.9/11th) and Lara van de Liederkerke-Meier (with Kiarado d’Arville 37.2/6th).
The team from Sweden came third (130.8). The best rider for the Scandinavians was Louise Romeike with the Holsteiner Caspian by Crumble (34.4/3rd).
German Professional Riding Championships 2026
Nina Schultes also made it into the top ten with the 19-year-old Grand Prix by Grafenstolz (40.8). The placing was synonymous with fourth place in the German Professional Riders’ Championships, which was won once again by Michael Jung. Second and third place went to Julia Krajewski and Libussa Lübbeke.
