To wrap up the Paris leg of the Global Champions Tour, the “Eiffel Challenge” was on the program—a 1.55-meter jumping competition with a jump-off as part of the CSI5* Tour, with 164,700 euros up for grabs.
The biggest prize, a good 41,000 euros, went to Victor Bettendorf of Luxembourg on the Kannan daughter Encore Toi du Linon. It wasn’t an easy victory. The pair clocked a time of 39 seconds in the jump-off. The times of the riders who finished behind them were 39.26, 39.43, 39.49, and 39.99 seconds. So it was a close contest.
Two-time world champion Henrik von Eckermann and the ten-year-old Stakkato Gold daughter Hylanderhof’s Saruschka celebrated the greatest success of their still-young partnership to date. The Hanoverian mare, bred by Sina Dierking, was brought into competition by Giulia Martinengo Marquet. Von Eckermann has been competing with her since the beginning of the year. In early May, he presented the mare for the first time in a 1.60-meter show jumping competition. Today she placed second—her greatest success to date and an important one for Henrik von Eckermann.
Philipp Weishaupt followed behind, presenting an even younger horse: Lady Concern du Rezidal, a daughter of Emerald. However, the two have known each other for quite some time and have already celebrated several major successes, most recently a victory in the Hohen Wieschendorf Grand Prix. There, Weishaupt also recounted how he first met the mare and brought her to his stable right away without even trying her out first. A good decision, as was proven once again today.
The fourth pair to join the U40-second club with a clear round were Lillie Keenan and Willem Greves Highway TN.

The name Weishaupt appears twice on the results list. Philipp’s brother Maximilian also rode a clear round today with his horse Zuccero and finished in seventh place. Like Zuccero, Jörne Sprehe’s Hickstead White also has a naturally flawless record. And just like the Holsteiner son of Zirocco Blue, he didn’t make a single jumping error either, finishing in ninth place.
