Show jumper Abdullah Alsharbatly has been suspended through the end of September
Abdullah Alsharbatly Will Not Compete in Tournaments for the Time Being After Blood Was Found on His Horse Twice

Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de Abdullah Alsharbatly does not appear on the FEI’s list of “Suspended Athletes.” However, he has been suspended in the FEI database since August 31. The competition ban ends on September 30. Worldofshowjumping.com was the first to report the reason for this: Alsharbatly was caught twice within a year with blood on his horse—not at the World Championships in Aachen, where his rides caused widespread outrage, but on June 4 at Spruce Meadows in Canada, and again on August 27 in Gijón, Spain.
If the stewards determine that bleeding was caused by equipment or the rider’s actions, this results in a “Jumping Recorded Warning”—that is, a warning—every time, according to the new rules. Riders are allowed one such warning. However, a second warning within a year will automatically result in a one-month suspension and a fine of 1,000 Swiss francs.
Statistics
A number of riders have now received their first warning. A total of 537 FEI show jumping competitions in all categories have taken place since January. During this time, the FEI issued 323 “Jumping Recorded Warnings”—an average of about 8.7 per weekend.
Most of the warnings—47 in total—were issued to British riders.
