The German Horse Industry Network Invites Companies and Organizations to Get Involved
Whether it’s the feed industry, agricultural machinery, science, or the arts; whether it’s transportation or event management—horses bring everyone together. The German Horse Industry Network aims to pool expertise and make it available to benefit the industry.
Featured image: Sportfotos-lafrentz.de The German horse industry is currently in the process of establishing a new, cross-sector advocacy group: The German Horse Industry Network aims to give the industry’s numerous stakeholders and companies—from breeding and husbandry to trade and services, and all the way to equestrian sports—a unified voice and to more effectively represent the interests of the German horse industry. We welcome your participation!
Many industries, one core competency—the German equine industry
brings together a wide variety of sectors related to horses. Behind 6.7 billion euros in annual revenue and over 10,000 companies lies expertise and knowledge that, in some cases, dates back centuries. Above all, however, there are many individual voices speaking up for horses. The goal of a new initiative is to bring these voices together—not only to be heard in relevant forums of public discourse but also to gain greater visibility. The idea: a cross-sector network that reflects the diversity of the equine industry, clearly articulates key messages, and represents its interests.
A Network of Expertise and Passion
The network’s founders are Olaf Krause (EQUOVIS GmbH), Prof. Dr. Dirk Winter (University of Applied Sciences for Economics and the Environment, Nürtingen-Geislingen), and Dr. Werner Schade (Schade & Partner). The trio brings together various facets—the feed industry, science, and business expertise—yet still reflects only a fraction of the economic activity taking place in Germany’s equine sector—in companies, associations, and initiatives. These areas of expertise can have a very significant impact when presented as issues of concern to THE horse industry as a whole.
Flat Hierarchies—Just for the Horse
After the kickoff meeting, the project gained momentum right from day one. Through various meetings and digital exchanges, we are developing appropriate organizational structures for a forward-looking network. Co-initiator Olaf Krause sums it up this way: “It was clear to us from the very first exchange of ideas that we were aiming for a broad, fast—and thus clearly ‘digital first’—opportunity for all stakeholders to participate. With structures that follow function, not the other way around. ” This way, the interests of the equine industry can be effectively advanced. There is consensus not only when it comes to horses, but also on the need to avoid dampening the existing enthusiasm by establishing a complicated association with stifling structures.
