Trakehner Champion Hannu Haakon Joins Helgstrand Dressage

At the 2025 Trakehner Stallion Market, the black stallion Hannu Haakon by Scaglietti-Millennium was the celebrated second reserve champion. He was born at the Trakehner stud farm Gut Staffelde. His dam is a full sister to the Trakehner star sire Helium, who, although now a gelding, is arguably the most enduringly influential son of Millennium in Trakehner breeding.

The stallion was sold to Nicole Derlin as a foal, but was most recently stabled in Denmark at the Hesselhøj Stud, which has recently been in the news due, among other things, to a legal dispute in which the stud is suing a stewardess for defamation because she excluded the son of the family, Anders Sjøbeck Hœck, from a mare performance test for unchivalrous behavior.

Sjøbeck Hœck is also suspended from competitions. Cecilie Hedegaard presented the black horse at the Trakehner National Tournament. He was named champion with top marks.

Hannu zu Helgstrand

The Hesselhøj stud farm has now announced that it has sold the stallion to Helgstrand Dressage. The two Danish stables have had a business relationship for quite some time. For example, the three-time world champion Quinn G. originally came from Hesselhøj before being sold via Helgstrand to Fiona Bigwood. Daan G., Hesselhøj Downtown, and Dizzy—who won silver in Verden this year—also came from Hesselhøj.
