Christian Simonson's Indian Rock withdrawn from World Championship qualifications
No World Championships for Christian Simonson’s World Cup runner-up Indian Rock

The 13-year-old Indian Rock was Emmelie Scholtens’ 2024 Olympic horse for the Netherlands. He was then sold to the USA and ended up under the saddle of 23-year-old Christian Simonson. Not only did they qualify for the World Cup Final in Fort Worth at the first attempt this season, they also came second straight away. They would have been the best pair in the USA for the WEG in Aachen. But that will now come to nothing.
In the social media accounts of the Zen Elite Equestrian Center, Indian Rock’s owners explain that the KWPN stallion by Apache is to be given a break. Literally they say:
“After much discussion with the team, we have decided not to include Indian Rock in our championship team plans this year.
Rocky has given us an incredible season and we couldn’t be prouder of everything he has achieved. He has exceeded our expectations in every way and we think the best decision for him right now is to enjoy a well-deserved break and some time to just be a horse.
We believe that building great horses means knowing when to move on and when to give them a chance to recharge their batteries. Rocky has taken us on an incredible journey this year (one we couldn’t have imagined better) and we want to set him up for continued success in the years to come.”
