About ten weeks ago, Hubertus Schmidt fell during practice and was seriously injured. Now he's back on the track as a coach.

This past weekend, a tournament was held at the Schmidt family’s Fleyenhof in Borchen-Etteln near Paderborn. Leading the way as coach was the host himself, Hubertus Schmidt. That’s actually nothing out of the ordinary. After all, if no one else is doing it, he’s often the one manning the grill or serving drinks at such events. But after Schmidt suffered a serious riding accident in early April—resulting in multiple broken bones, hospitalization, and several surgeries—it’s heartening to see that the Olympic team champion, champion trainer, and president of the German Equestrian and Driving Federation (DRFV) is clearly on the road to recovery.

Shortly before the weekend, the DRFV itself released a statement with greetings from Schmidt. He has since recovered well, his recovery continues to progress, and he is once again fully supporting his star students, Katharina Hemmer and Anna Schölermann, as their coach.
