Sophie Hinners also rides Cincinnati, the Holsteiner that was named German Champion among six-year-old show jumpers

Sophie Hinner was once again unbeatable at the National Championship for six-year-old show jumpers. In the final, however, this competition was no longer about scores but about jumping faults and time—just like in real life. Hinner won with by far the fastest jump-off ride aboard the Holsteiner gelding Cincinnati. The son of Comme il faut was bred by Michael Eitel from a Cardento dam.

Nine—but only three zeros in the final tally

Nine of the 39 qualified finalists had completed the first round without any faults. In the jump-off, only three horses managed to do so, and they accordingly took the podium spots. Hinners clocked 36.27 seconds on Cincinnati. A significantly more composed ride—at 42.6 seconds, more than six seconds slower than the winning ride—earned Patrick Hengstebeck second place with Daenerys von Lebich. The mare, bred in Westphalia by Franz Becker, is a Holsteiner Diamant de Casall, a “WW horse””, who is available for breeding this year at the Birkhof Stud. His maternal grandsire is Ludger Berrbaum’s Chaman.

Third-place finisher Stefan Engbers was another half-second slower. He rode the OS stallion Con Touch by Conthargos-Casall, bred by Hans Jürgen Heitmann, to third place (0/43.09 seconds).

Fast, but not without mistakes

Among those who tried to post a fast time in this race for 6-year-olds was the Colombian Ruben Arroyave Munoz, riding the OS mare Virginia OLD by Chacoon Blue-Vivant van de Heffinck (4/37.6). The mare (breeder: Harm Oncken) had already made a very positive impression earlier this year at the Oldenburg State Championship in Höven.

Alexander Schill, who had won the seven-year-old final at the Bundeschampionat yesterday, also put almost all his eggs in one basket. But he, too, had one knockdown. He completed the course in 38.1 seconds while riding Hardi. This son of Hickstead White and Gold Fever, who is also registered with the Oldenburg International Show Jumping Breeders’ Association, was bred by Susanne Bury.

OS and Holstein were well represented

Behind them, in sixth place after a knockdown, was Sweden’s Mathilda Sophia Luisa Navren, who rides for the Lewitz Stud and Paul Schockemöhle. She rode the OS mare Dialanda PS by Diaron-Lando across the finish line in 38.42 seconds.

The Belgian stallion Million Dollar is the sire of Moh, who placed seventh—a Holsteiner, also a gray, out of a Cascavelle dam and bred by Dirk Schröder. Frank Wagner rode him to seventh place (4/42.33). The Holstein lineage continued with Unico by United Way-Contendro (breeder: Klaus Knickrehm, 4/44.48), ridden by Tobias Thoenes. And finally, ninth place went to Marracudo FBW, a DSP stallion born in Baden-Württemberg at the Joos Breeding Association. He, too, is sired by the Belgian Million Dollar. Pia-Luise Bauer had to contend with two knockdowns (8/41.05).
