DSP Licensing: 2027 South German Stallion Show with Oliver Oelrich as the New Dressage Sports Commissioner
Oliver Oelrich will be the new dressage sports commissioner at the South German Stallion Show in Munich. Photo: DSP Oliver Oelrich is known as a dressage instructor, as a longtime “riding instructor’s voice” at aptitude tests for young stallions, and as a national team coach. And as a Westphalian. For some time now, Oelrich—who himself enjoyed success at the Grand Prix level—has made southern Germany his home.
From 2010 to early 2020, he served as a discipline coach for the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR). During that time, the young riders he helped coach won around 100 medals at major championships. Since 2021, he has been the national coach for the Swiss dressage team, where he oversees the sport from the junior level up to the elite level.
Oliver Oelrich—no stranger to the horse breeding world
Oelrich also brings experience in breeding: Since 2020, he has been a member of the Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association’s licensing commission, which recently underwent a personnel change. He has already shared his knowledge on evaluating basic gaits and dressage aptitude in young horses during continuing education courses. The German Sport Horse Working Group (AG DSP) describes him in a press release as a “proven expert who understands breeding, training, and elite competition from various perspectives.”
Oelrich’s predecessor, Jörg Schrödter, served as the dressage sports commissioner for the German Sport Horse’s main licensing program for ten years, helping to shape it. The AG DSP thanks him for his service and will bid him farewell at the 2027 DSP Stallion Days in Munich-Riem.
The preliminary selection for the 2027 DSP Licensing will take place in the coming weeks. Potential stallions will be selected in Prussendorf and Munich (more information here).
