National Eventing Coach Peter Thomsen Is on the Road to Recovery After a Riding Accident

According to the FN, Peter Thomsen is recovering at a rehabilitation center from the effects of his riding accident in mid-June, which occurred just before the German Championships in Luhmühlen. The good news is that the national eventing coach’s health is “continuing to improve.” He is making “encouraging progress” and is in regular contact with his coaching staff.

“Peter is making steady progress and is already able to follow his coaching team’s work from a distance again. We’re very pleased about that. His focus remains on his recovery and rehabilitation,” said Dr. Dennis Peiler, CEO of Pferdesport Deutschland.

Peter Thomsen himself has also issued a statement: “I’m looking forward to closely following the team’s progress, and I’m very grateful for the tremendous support and the many good wishes I’ve received over the past few weeks.”

Developments within the team

The latest development within the team is the announcement of the roster for the World Championship in Aachen, which consists of Michael Jung/Chipmunk, Julia Krakewski/Nickel, Malin Hansen-Hotopp/Quidditch, Christoph Wahler/D’Accord, Libussa Lübbeke/Caramia, and Arne Bergendahl with Bronco as a reserve. Rodolphe Scherer has been serving as head coach for the national team riders since the German Championships, acting on behalf of Peter Thomsen. He is supported by the discipline-specific coaches: Anne-Kathrin Pohlmeier for dressage, Lara Weber for show jumping, and Andreas Dibowski for eventing.

In early August, the trainers, horses, and riders will head to the training camp on Rodderberg in Bonn.
