The Brazilian Equestrian Federation has announced the show jumpers and horses that will represent Brazil at the World Championships in Aachen. Among them is a German Nations Cup champion.

The following pairs will compete for Brazil at the World Show Jumping Championships:

  • Luciana Diniz with *Vertigo du Desert*

  • Marlon Modolo Zanotello with Dorette OLD or Ilex

  • Rodrigo Pessoa with Major Tom or Prins van’t Eigenlo

  • Stephan de Freitas Barcha with Dinozo or Chevaux Primavera

  • Yuri Mansur with QH Alfons Santo Antonio

Eduardo Pereira de Menezes (Londontime) and Pedro Muylaert (Gemme Villers) were named as reserves.

Marlon Zanotelli’s mare Dorette OLD actually belongs to Jana Wargers. Riding this 17-year-old daughter of Dollar du Murier, Wargers was part of the winning German team twice at the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona. However, since Wargers is pregnant, she has entrusted Dorette to her colleague at Ashford Farm.

Zanotelli’s second horse is also no stranger to the scene. Ilex was the horse on which McLain Ward helped the U.S. team win the silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. He has been under Zanotelli’s training since last summer.

New Coach

To ensure the team is as well-prepared as possible for the World Cup, the Brazilian federation has hired Franke Sloothaak as the team’s coach. As the federation states:

“As part of its strategic planning, which is aimed at achieving excellence and strengthening its elite sports program, the CBH has confirmed the hiring of renowned international coach Franke Sloothaak.

He is expected to take over technical leadership of the team during its preparations for the World Cup and throughout the tournament.

“As an Olympic champion and one of the most respected figures in international equestrian sports, Franke Sloothaak brings extensive experience in elite sports to the Brazilian delegation, thereby underscoring the federation’s commitment to achieving the best possible results for the country.”
