Thirty-one mares born in 2022 and 2023, which had been selected in advance during the registration process in the licensing districts, were evaluated. “We didn’t make it easy on ourselves. We really saw tremendous quality among the top contenders today,” said breeding director Stephan Haarhoff.
This year, Antje Lembke, breeding director and managing director of the Brandenburg-Anhalt Horse Breeding Association, served as an external judge for the mares. She agreed with Haarhoff’s assessment: “It was a pleasure to evaluate these high-quality mares. I particularly liked the informative catalog, which provides a wealth of information and details on the performance of their relatives.”
Jump-based scoring
Breeding director Haarhoff, Carsten Lauck, and Marc Horns, serving as the judging panel, awarded the show jumping title to Royal Beauty U.P. The three-year-old daughter of Chacoon Blue and Conthargos was bred by Günther Fielmann (Schierensee) and was presented by U.P. Sporthorses GmbH from Bad Oldesloe. She belongs to the Holstein line 223B. “A mare with a great deal of charm and brilliant movement quality,” is how Haarhoff described her. The direct line has produced several show jumpers successful at the S-level, as well as the licensed and award-winning stallions Lucky Choice, Dontender, and Los Christianos, among others.
The reserve champion of the jumping mares was Raija by Cornet’s Quaprice-Casall, bred by Matthias Kühlmann (Rietberg), line 1298 (the “Lord line”). Lembke: “An athletic mare with superb conformation and a very good walk, who received high marks.”
Raschida P.D. by Conthalou-Quinar, bred and owned by Peter Domenus, secured the second reserve victory for him in Borgstedt. She represents line 3317, which also produced Christian Ahlmann’s Dominator Z, among others.
Dressage-oriented scoring

Rosegarden by Escanto PS-Aljano left the arena as the dressage-oriented champion mare. Karin Winter-Polac from Lürschau received high praise as both breeder and owner. “An all-around successful mating,” said Haarhoff. “She is not only harmoniously built and has a beautiful face—she has already impressively demonstrated in her performance test that she is also very easy to ride.”
The reserve champion in the dressage mare class was P-Orchidee by Fürst Zonik PS-Fleming, bred and owned by Rabana Tropschug (Bokel). Lembke noted: “A mare with a maternal appearance, possessing excellent rhythm and a powerful drive, who is already very well-muscled and presented herself superbly in hand.”
