Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de After her brother Hannes delivered the only clear round for Germany yesterday in the EEF Nations’ Cup in Martofte, his sister Pheline Ahlmann followed suit today. In the saddle on Carlton SR, she secured a strong second place behind Belgian rider Brecht Goossens on the eleven-year-old Asca Z son Alaska Z in the most important jumping competition of the day, a 1.50 meter test with jump-off.
Magnus Schmidt, who was part of the U21 European Championship team last year, was doubly pleased today. Not only did he finish third behind Pheline in Saturday’s highlight with his eleven-year-old Comme il faut son Carl Gustav, but he had already finished third in the EY Cup Grand Prix for the U25 age group. Here he had saddled his ten-year-old Rhinelander Lacon by Latour.
The winner here was Jone Illi from Finland, former European Junior Champion, who now works as a rider in Markus and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum’s stables. With Chadera Rouge PS by Chacoon Blue, it was one of his employers’ horses that carried him to victory today. Second place went to Denmark’s Frida Munk Lassen on Ci Ci Chopin.
Although Tomma Thiesen had one knockdown with her eight-year-old Bert, she was still in the money in seventh place, as were Emilia Loser with Diablue PS and Tjade Carstensen on Aperol Fritz, who also had four penalty points each.
