Richard Vogel is looking forward to his favorite tournament
Richard Vogel (29) will be competing as a Rolex Live Contender, i.e. as a current contender for the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. The European Champion is currently number three in the world rankings. Vogel has entered four horses for Aachen: Superstar United Touch S, the Holstein stallion Cardentos, speed specialist Phenyo van het Keysersbos and the young stallion United Call Jps.
Vogel was on site for the opening press conference and said: “I associate Aachen with some of the most emotional moments of my career so far. The atmosphere in the main stadium is incomparable – this feeling, packed with adrenaline and goosebumps, can’t be found anywhere else in the world.”
Commenting on his starting position as a Grand Slam contender, he said: “I am aware of how big a challenge it is. The Rolex Grand Slam has a huge significance in our sport. To be able to come here as a contender is really something very special.”
How did he prepare for the challenge? “We don’t want to change too much in preparation. United Touch S is in good shape and has often proven in the past that it feels comfortable at the Soers. So let’s hope that we can deliver our best performance and that the necessary bit of luck will be on our side.”
