U25 Tour CDI Tolbert
Two top three finishes for Schölermann’s young star Vitally
Little rocket: Anna Schölermann's Vitally PCH, half-brother to Total Hope and Special Gold, among others. Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de Eight years young is the Oldenburg Vitally PCH by. Vitalis out of Weihegold. Since his youth, it was U25 European Champion Anna Schölermann who was responsible for training the youngster bred by Christine Arns-Krogmann and owned by Nancy Gooding. Two and a half years ago, she was still afraid of canter-canter transitions, the student of Hubertus Schmidt posted on her Instagram story yesterday with a video of Vitally’s first Bundeschampionat appearance. Apparently they worked quite well even then. After all, they finished fourth in the final. But these are now tasks that Vitally can only smile wearily about.
The term “model pupil” was invented for the dark chestnut stallion – first show season at the age of five, fourth place at the Bundeschampionat. First advanced (S) level season at the age of seven, several placings straight away. And now his first S*** season and his first victory in Warendorf-Freckenhorst just a few weeks ago. This weekend, the international premiere was on the program.
U25 Tour CDI Tolbert
Schölermann had chosen the U25 Tour at the CDI Tolbert for this. She also had her tried and tested “Benno” alias “Bon Scolari”, the 2024 European Team Champion, with her, but Benno had to finish behind his stablemate in both the Intermédiaire II and the U25 Short Grand Prix.
Schölermann and Vitally took second place in the Intermédiaire II with 69.313 percent. In his first short Grand Prix, the judges gave him 67.607 percent and he came third.
The fact that Vitally has three above-average basic gaits was already evident in his results as a five and six-year-old (although he was only used a little). But now in the advanced*** class, he demonstrates that he has not only inherited his parents’ work ethic, but also the talent for the collected movements that have already helped Weihegold to top marks.
His stablemate Bon Scolari finished fifth in the Intermédiaire II (67.549). The 13-year-old son of Bon Bravour took fourth place in the short Grand Prix (67.564).
Further U25 results
The winners in both tests were Denmark’s Frederikke Gram Jacobsen and her 16-year-old Danish warmblood mare Ryvangs Zafina (70.098 and 68.889 percent respectively). This pair have known each other for a long time and have been competing internationally for seven years, representing their home country at three Junior and two Young Rider European Championships, winning team bronze twice, team silver twice and even the team title on their last appearance in 2023. They already made their first S*** appearances last year, but Tolbert was their first outing in the U25 community. A very promising debut!
A close second in the short Grand Prix behind the Dane and ahead of Schölermann/Vitally was the Swedish duo Maja Hermansson with the 13-year-old Danish Johnson daughter Diva Pilekaer (68.334). This is also their first U25 season.
Schürmann’s Grand Prix newcomer number two
Yesterday Charlott-Maria Schürmann presented her wonderful Oldenburg mare Dante’s Pearl in the Grand Prix. Pearli” had today off, she will compete in the Special tomorrow. Her stablemate Dein Stern has already completed his program for this weekend.
The chestnut is a nine-year-old son of the former Oldenburg Champion Stallion Don Deluxe, bred and owned by Guido Klatte. Charlott-Maria Schürmann has been in the saddle with the chestnut since this year. He was previously presented by Anna-Catherine Schöffner. Dein Stern competed with her for the first time a year ago in an advanced (S***) level test (Intermédiaire A). With Schürmann, he won his Inter A debut in Ankum with 72.105 percent and was second in the Intermédiaire II with 71.184 percent.
Tolbert was now making his international debut, and again there were two ribbons, albeit with more modest percentages. In the Intermédiaire B, he achieved 66.982 percent and fourth place. In the Intermédiaire II, the test that the gelding is already familiar with, they moved up to third place with 67.892 percent.
Old acquaintances in the U21 tour
The Danish rider Michella Skovsager, who celebrates her 20th birthday in a few days, and the nine-year-old Swedish mare Zimillione by Gammelengårds Zappa dominated the young riders’ class. This bay mare was previously known under Cathrine Laudrup Dufour, who trained her and presented her with great success up to the small tour. She has been competing internationally with Michella Skovsager since last year. Her best result in three appearances to date was 71.483 percent in the Young Rider Freestyle at the Future Champions in Hagen (eighth place). Now, nine months later, the pair are in a different league. They won all three U21 tests in Tolbert, FEI team and individual tests as well as the freestyle, with scores of 73.333, 74.117 and 76.008 percent. That smells like a European Championship appearance …
Third place in the freestyle went to the Dutch rider Yasmine Westerink on the former Westphalian champion stallion Fashion in Black NRW, who was trained up to advanced level at Holkenbrink station and was more likely to go to the Dutch rider (74.683).
Another Dutch duo, Zoe Vincourt and 19-year-old Cennin, made it through to the freestyle. With Madeleine Witte-Vrees, the Vivaldi son competed for the Netherlands at the 2017 European Championships, among others, and in 2018 they were able to recommend themselves for the World Championships in Tryon. The stallion has been a trainer since 2022, first for Jessica Dertell in Australia and later in Europe, and since 2025 for Zoe Vincourt, last year in the juniors and now in the young riders. Tolbert was an international premiere, but still without a ribbon.
There were no German riders competing in the classes for the U14 to U21 age groups.
