Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de Maddox Mart is a nine-year-old son of Hennessy who was once licensed by his home association KWPN but has since been laid and is therefore a De Niro grandson out of a Bordeaux-Ferro dam (breeder: C.W. van Baalen). He was initially used at stud at Gestüt Schafhof and was presented by stable rider Anotonia Öhrstam in his first tests for young riding and dressage horses.
Career to date
As a five-year-old, Jessica Lynn Thomas took over the riding of the black horse and managed to qualify him for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. With a victory in the small final, they recommended themselves for the decision, where they took eleventh place with 84.2 percent. The winner at the time was the St. Schufro daughter St. Paris, who is now the great young hope of team world champion Nanna Merrald.
As a six-year-old, Maddox Mart competed in a show with Matthias Alexander Rath himself in the saddle and was victorious in Crozet, twice scoring over 90 percent in the six-year-old FEI test. Lena Haßmann then took over the further development of the talented youngster and, at the age of seven, qualified him straight away for the final of the Nuremberg Burg Cup, where they finished eleventh.
In 2025 Maddox Mart went to two shows, in January and November, both times with Lena Haßmann, both times with top placings, a third and a first place.
To Denmark and back
Between the two appearances with Lena Haßmann was the Aloga Auction in May 2025. As reported by our colleagues at Dressprod.com, he was sold there for 750,000 euros, then moved to Denmark to Helgstrand Dressage, where he was offered for sale again. He then returned to Germany. Lena Haßmann presented him in Tremsdorf in the Mark Brandenburg in November.
Lenja Janßen has been the registered owner since February of this year and it is also the 16-year-old who presented the now laid stallion for the first time at a competition in Vreschen-Bokel four weeks ago. They took second place in a medium (M**) level test with a score of 6.8.
New rider with international experience
Lena Janßen comes from Stinstedt in Lower Saxony. As a 14-year-old, she competed in international children’s sport with Lindor van de Ixes, placing at the Preis der Besten, the Future Champions in Hagen and winning a class at the German Young Rider Championships. Her first (successful) appearances in medium (M*) and medium (M**) level dressage tests followed in the same year. She was also successful here in 2025.
