The Dreher family was already highly successful yesterday on Saturday at the CSI2* in Busto Arsizio. Today, Hans-Dieter Dreher went one better in the Grand Prix.

54 pairs had entered the starting list for the Busto Arsizio Grand Prix. Hans-Dieter Dreher chose the 14-year-old Holsteiner Cachas son Cous Cous for the 1.45 meter Grand Prix, who has already proven his qualities over much larger distances. Nevertheless, the decision was extremely close.

13 pairs had reached the jump-off, eight remained clear again, none were as fast as Hansi Dreher and Cous Cous, who broke through the light barrier after 37.83 seconds. But Denmark’s Rikke Heineking and her French Andiamo Semilly son Gwinnru de Kernevez came within a hundredth of a second, not even the blink of an eye, of the pair, 37.84 seconds, second place.

Third place went to Elisa Chimirri, a representative of the hosts, who was in the saddle on the nine-year-old Cornet Obolensky son Cornico (38.97).

The fastest four-fault ride in the jump-off was delivered by Edwin Schmuck and Caracho by Cascadello II, who had also qualified for the jump-off yesterday. However, Schmuck had decided to conserve the twelve-year-old Holsteiner’s strength and was rewarded with a place in the jump-off and ninth place.
