Benjamin Werndl and Quick Decision clearly won the Grand Prix for the freestyle at the CDI3* in Ornago.

Benjamin Werndl and Quick Decision have been a team for around a year. Uta Gräf had trained the colorful chestnut, bred by Blanka Heier, up to S*** level. He then moved to Aubenhausen together with Diallo from Kirchheimbolanden, who died far too young.

Since then, Werndl has already competed in several tournaments with “Quicks”, but primarily nationally. The last one was the Louisdor Prize Final in Frankfurt. They came third with 70.660 percent. Prior to that, Werndl and his ten-year-old Quaterhall son had won their international premiere in Salzburg with 70.674 percent. Today was their sixth Grand Prix de Dressage, their second international appearance. And they also won this one, this time with 71.50 percent.

Performance in Ornago

All judges had Werndl and Quick Decision in first place with scores ranging from 69.130 to 73.261 percent. Quick Decision impresses with his solid basic training, which is reflected in his secure contact, balance and self-carriage. Accordingly, the pair also succeeded in their test today, for which they received an 8.0 from three of the five judges in terms of harmony and overall impression and a 7.5 from the other two colleagues, i.e. marks above the level of the overall ride.

Second place went to Spain’s Beatrice Ferrer-Salat on the Negro son Elegance (69.826), followed by Charlotte Lenker on the Rhenish Grey Flanell son Gentleman (69.217). Yara Reichert came fourth with Valverde (67.522).

Second yellow ribbon for Werndl

In addition to Quick Decision, Benjamin Werndl also brought the nine-year-old For Romance son Fosbury with him to Ornago, who won the Intermédiaire A with 70.245 percent and received scores of up to 8.0 for his piaffe.

Yara Reichert took second place with the ten-year-old Fürstenball son Force Majeure (67.892) and came third (65.147) of the four pairs in the test with the eleven-year-old Sezuan daughter Special Diva.

There was a reunion for Team Aubenhausen in Ornago with an old acquaintance, the now 17-year-old KWPN stallion Elastico. He was once U25 European Champion with former Aubenhausen rider Raphael Netz before he was sold to the Jöbstl family in Austria. He was originally ridden by Paul Jöbstl, but is now an U21 partner for his sister Fanny, who won the FEI Young Riders’ team competition with him today with a score of 71.422 percent.
