As announced, the former price record holder and dressage horse world champion Revolution was back in competition with his new rider at the CDI Jerez at the weekend.

In 2015, the now 13-year-old Westphalian stallion Revolution switched to Helgstrand Dressage for more than one million euros via the Verden stallion market. Under Andreas Helgstrand, he won gold in 2018 and silver in 2019 at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. He later went on to compete at national Grand Prix level with Helgstrand until he was sold to the Portuguese rider Roberto Brasil in 2023, who was dreaming of the Olympic Games in Paris. At their first and so far only competition at the beginning of 2024 at the CDI3* in Cascais, they scored 61.978 percent in the Grand Prix. That was better this weekend in Jerez.

Grand Prix

24 pairs entered the Grand Prix tour in Jerez. Victory went to Portugal’s currently most successful rider, Maria Caetano on the Portuguese sport horse Hit Plus. The Bretton Woods son, with whom Caetano also competed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, scored 74.109 percent – more than ever before.

Roberto Brasil and Revolution finished eleventh with 65.283 percent. To summarize: The Rocky Lee son scored points whenever he went forward and was able to present his three outstanding basic gaits. The exercises where collection is required were less convincing. He received an average score of 5.1 from the five judges in the three (double counting) piaffe.

Freestyle

Maria Caetano and Hit Plus also set a personal score record in the freestyle: 78.940 percent, which was also a victory. Only a quarter of the participants in the Grand Prix opted for the freestyle. The rest will compete in the Grand Prix Special today. Roberto Brasil and Revolution were among the six starters in the freestyle. They did better with the lines at their own discretion. This time they achieved an average score of 6.1 in the piaffe and 72.660 percent overall. That meant third place in this starting field.
