The CSI2* in Al Ain, which was also due to take place from March 4 to 8, has also been officially canceled.
Nothing has yet been said about the tournaments planned for the coming weekends. However, it is pointed out that information will be provided immediately as soon as there are “significant developments affecting FEI events”.
The FEI is in close contact with the relevant national federations to closely monitor the situation and assess the potential impact on FEI events.
FEI recommendations
For those riders who had planned to compete, the FEI recommends the following:
- follow instructions and recommendations of the respective government and national authorities, including travel warnings, safety recommendations and restrictions.
- regularly follow the updates of messages and official channels.
- Remain flexible when making travel arrangements, as the situation can change quickly.
In addition, officials, athletes and/or their escorts who are currently in the region and affected by travel or airspace restrictions are urged to remain in close contact with their national federation and their respective embassy or consulate, as they are best placed to provide direct support and advice.
No consequences for refusal
Participants who individually decide – in line with government recommendations – to cancel their start for safety reasons and not to travel will be assured that their decision will not result in any consequences from the FEI.
