There is hardly a German licensing where "Matthias Schlamminger GmbH" does not appear at least once as an exhibitor. The name Schlamminger will continue to exist in the equestrian world, even if the man who gave it its name is no longer alive.
The company “Schlamminger Zucht- und Sportpferde” reported the death of boss Matthias Schlamminger on January 15. It goes on to say:
“Zucht- und Sportpferde Schlamminger will be continued in Matthias’ spirit. The values that he always lived by and exemplified in the company – responsibility, passion for equestrian sport and the utmost care in breeding – remain the basis of our daily activities. His life’s work will be continued with respect, commitment and awareness of his philosophy.”
Matthias Schlamminger has always had a lot to do with horsepower, even if it was professionally in the form of sheet metal. The Regensburg native made his money with his car dealership. But horses were his passion, even from a young age. In 2025, he opened his own stallion station in Rhede under the management of Gerd Könemann.
Around 70 foals were born on the Schlamminger farm every year, which then grew up in the Puszta in Hungary. Hence the strong presence at German licensing events. Next weekend alone, Matthias Schlamminger GmbH will be represented with nine hopefuls at the DSP Stallion Days in Munich-Riem.
