Beatrice Hoffrogge's Zuperman OLD hasn't been seen at a tournament for almost a year. But that doesn't mean he hasn't been working hard, as was evident at the Klosterhof Medingen Tournament.

It has been a tradition for the Medingen Monastery Courtyard to, before its Fall Auction A dressage tournament was held, featuring classes up to the Grand Prix. Yesterday’s program included the Intermédiaire II class, in which the nine-year-old Oldenburg stallion Zuperman OLD by Vincent Maranello—a former bronze medalist at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and last year Sixth Place in the Final of the Nuremberg Burg Cup with his trainer, Beatrice Hoffrogge. It was the pair’s first competition since Frankfurt. In addition to his duties as a stud—one of his licensed sons, the four-year-old Zentinel, is currently standing at Klosterhof—Zuperman has evidently been working hard to hone his skills in the arena. He immediately scored a 7 with a decimal point in his first S***-level start; to be precise, he scored exactly 70 percent. That earned him fourth place.

The victory went to Imke Stoll on Dominus, a 10-year-old son of Dante Weltino, with a score of 71.623 percent, ahead of two sons of Sir Donnerhall: Symphony OLD (70.482), ridden by Catherine Mayer, and Segundo Milagro (70.395), ridden by Christopher Putz.

In today’s Grand Prix, Tessa Frank and her Holsteiner Casall daughter Lavaletta took a clear lead with a score of 73.467 percent. Second place went to a former Medingen auction horse, the Hanoverian mare Feldrose, who was trained to Grand Prix level by Finnish-born Emma Kanerva, rode by Rose Oatley for a time, and now has another Finnish rider, Melinda Ignatius. They scored 71.667 percent. Just half a point behind (71.633 percent) were Nuno Palma e Santos and his former Louisdor finalist, Fortunity S FRH. Beatrice Hoffrogge also took fourth place here, though this time with the 11-year-old Dancelli—another son of Dante Weltino—who finished with a score of 71.40 percent.
