Britt Roth Wins Qualifying Round for Germany's U25 Jumping Cup
U25 German Champion Britt Roth Continues Her Winning Streak in Aachen

Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de The dream team has struck again. Silver at the Women’s German Championships in Balve, victory at the U25 German Championships in Riesenbeck—and now Britt Roth and her nine-year-old Comme il faut son, Jeffrey, are shining in Aachen.
Jeffrey joined the Roth family as a yearling. Britt broke him in and trained him herself. The two know each other inside and out, and that paid off once again today in the qualifier for Germany’s U25 Show Jumping Cup at the World Championships in Aachen.
Britt and Jeffrey were the last pair to tackle the 1.45-meter fault/time jumping course, with 13 jumps ahead of them, which they completed in 57.78 seconds without knocking down any obstacles. This made them more than a second faster than the pair that had been in the lead up to that point.
The winners
That was business psychologist Leila Bingold, a member of the German Equestrian Foundation’s talent pool, who earned her stripes with Marcus Ehning after graduating from high school—first completing an internship there and then training her own horses for two years. Today, she rode Christof by Christian, who is also a Holsteiner. The pair clocked a time of 58.92 seconds, once again leaving U25 regular Hannes Ahlmann and Madness behind them.
The professional rider from Schleswig-Holstein knows the Aachen stadium well. He has won the qualifier for Germany’s U25 Jumping Cup here three times (on different horses). But he just couldn’t seem to pull off a victory in the final. Still, last year he finished second behind Tjade Carstensen, so he came close. So this year, he’s trying a new tactic—not going all out in the qualifiers, but saving his energy for the final.
Among others, the U25 eventing world champion, Calvin Böckmann, plans to compete against him there. Böckmann placed fourth with Diro, a son of Diamant de Semilly. Diro was bred by Dr. Hilmer Meyer-Kulenkampff, who also bred Michael Jung’s World Champion, Chipmunk. The two are not related, however.
There were a total of eleven clear rounds. Britt Roth had to let it sink in for a moment that she would be leading the victory lap: “Unbelievable! It’s our first time at the Aachen Main Stadium—that alone was an indescribable feeling. To be able to win on top of that is just amazing.”
