The next five finalists for Germany’s U25 Jumping Cup 2026
When you and your best friend are unbeatable - Britt Roth and Jeffrey. Photo: Sportfotos-lafrentz.de Britt Roth and Jeffrey were the pair to beat in the qualifier for Germany’s U25 Show Jumping Cup in Mannheim. However, none of the competitors managed to do so, neither in the first nor in the second competition. Britt and her nine-year-old Holsteiner Comme il faut son led the rounds of honor in both jumping competitions.
Yesterday’s final qualifier was an S*** course (1.50 meters) with a jump-off. Seven pairs reached the jump-off, but none were anywhere near as fast as Britt and Jeffrey, who flew to victory in 42.1 seconds.
Comme il faut-Festival
Marcus Ehning’s successful stallion Comme il faut not only produced the winner, but was also responsible for the horses in second and third place, with Liam Broich’s Cadou Z in second place indirectly via Comilfo Plus Z. The two were 42.95 seconds fast. The third-placed DSP gelding Carl Gustav from Magnus Schmidt was again a direct Comme il faut offspring. They crossed the finish line clear in 43.63 seconds.
In addition to Britt Roth, Liam Broich and Magnus Schmidt, Paul Ripploh and Lia Sophie Bolten were also able to recommend themselves for an appearance at the final in the Aachen Soers as part of the World Championships.
Well-rehearsed duo
Britt Roth and Jeffrey’s triumph was no coincidence. Rather, their success is the result of a partnership that has grown over time. The gelding came to the Roth family as a yearling. Britt broke him in and trained him herself. She said: “I am incredibly proud of Jeffrey. After winning on Saturday as the last starter in the jump-off, to risk everything again and then win again – that’s just a great feeling.”
Which she can share with her family. Her mother Barbara, whose last name was Reitter back then, already rode in Mannheim. And Britt’s brother Mikka was victorious today in the Youngster Tour in Mannheim in the saddle on the eight-year-old Swedish horse Fresno by Emerald.
Bundestrainer happy, sponsor and organizer too
National coach Peter Teeuwen later expressed his satisfaction with the performances of his riders in Mannheim: “The standard here in Mannheim was extremely high. The riders delivered strongly and the horses got better day by day. Britt and Jeffrey implemented their plan perfectly.”
Long-time Rhineland coach Holger Hetzel has supported the series since 2024. He praised: “Britt and Jeffrey are an exceptional pair and absolutely deserved to win here.”
Hetzel, who has also coached family members at the final with his daughter Laura, is not the only one who is particularly keen to promote young talent. Tournament director Peter Hofmann: “The U25 series is very close to my heart. And I’m particularly pleased that Britt is winning here today – her family has been closely connected with equestrian sport and Mannheim for years.”
