Quizas - the Spanish word for "maybe" or "possibly". When Richard Vogel is in the saddle, it becomes "definitely". This was the case this weekend in Wellington, where the European champion won two jumping competitions with the ten-year-old Belgian gelding Quizas van't Hulsbos, including one of the highlights.

Richard Vogel has only had the ten-year-old Emerald son Quizas van’t Hulsbos under saddle since the beginning of the year. He was previously presented by the Devos couple, who still own him, at least officially. If it was their plan for Vogel to ride the gelding into the money – it worked out. This weekend at the latest.

Vogel and Quizas van’t Hulsbos had already placed at the top once at national level in January, and then internationally last weekend. At the CSI2* in Myakka City (which is also in Florida), they finished in the top five three times with a fourth place in the Grand Prix as the highlight.

This weekend they took not one, but two victories. On Thursday they won the qualifier for today’s Grand Prix of the national “Jumper Classic” tour, and today they also won the Grand Prix itself, a 1.50 jumping competition.

In a penalty-free 33.82 seconds, the pair beat nine other competitors in the jump-off. Second place went to Sydney Shulman Desiderio in the saddle on J-Boston S.E. (0/34.769) ahead of Dana Escales (USA) on Ombre D’Emma (0/34.786).

Another German pair made it into the jump-off: Söhnke Theimann and Caprichosa LS. However, the pair had two knockdowns against the clock and finished tenth.
