Riesenbeck Grand Prix stays in its own stable
Home match for Weishaupt and future hope Callao L
Philipp Weishaupt and Callao L won under the Riesenbeck giant trees today. Photo: RI/Nina Krug The L in the name of the nine-year-old Congress son Callao L stands for the breeding of the Ligges family. In 2023, the grey went into the possession of Beerbaum Stables, first with the boss himself and since the beginning of last year under Philipp Weishaupt. His sponsor Alice Lawaetz secured the gelding for Weishaupt in May 2025. In January of this year, the pair finished third in one of Doha’s CSI3* Grand Prix over 1.50 meters.
It didn’t go that high today in Riesenbeck. The CSI2* Grand Prix was over 1.45 meters and 16 of the 53 pairs made it into the jump-off. Here, Weishaupt not only delivered the fastest clear round, but also the fastest jump-off ever in 37.09 seconds. A clear victory at the home match.
Sweden’s Karin Martinsen took second place on the OS stallion Tailormade Concha Balou by Conthargos (37.58), followed by Sophie Hinners with the eleven-year-old stallion Event de l’Heribus by Emir de Vy (37.89), who is registered as a Luxembourg sport horse.
The fact that the victory was no walk in the park for Weishaupt is also shown by who else was at the start – fourth place went to Mario Stevens with his best horse Starissa. Marcus Ehning jumped to seventh place with the nine-year-old A la Carte daughter Askala NRW. Patrick Stühlmeyer and Baloutaire PS, who were seeded for the World Cup final, had one knockdown in the normal course.
Tom Schewe and the seven-year-old Stacoa by Stakkato Gold dominated the Youngster Tour with a second place on Thursday and one win each on Saturday and Sunday.
The now seven-year-old Bundeschampion of 2024, Arezzo Man, also had a great performance here. With his trainer Sophie Hinners in the saddle, he jumped in the Youngster Tour for seven-year-olds for the first time and was clear in all three tests.
