Representing Germany were Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and Messi van’t Ruytershof. For the 14-year-old Belgian son of Plot Blue, it was his first Grand Prix over 1.50 meters in nearly a year and a half. He passed the test with flying colors, qualifying as one of eight horses for the jump-off, where he posted the second-fastest time but had one knockdown. As a result, the pair finished fifth.
The victory went to Portugal, with António Matos Almeida riding Old Boy SJ (0/37.34), followed by Spain’s Mariano Martinez Bastida on the Westphalian mare Bacardi O by Bellini Royal (0/37.90) and the Colombian Dayro Arroyave riding Arctic Light (0/40.34).
Nicola Pohl and Fee du Val Guerard had one knockdown in the standard course. Nina Piasecki withdrew with Cascabel.
In addition to her success in the Grand Prix, Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann also celebrated a third-place finish in the Gold Tour’s 1.45-meter two-phase jumping competition aboard Cornela, whom she bred herself—the half-sister to the champion stallion Esmeraldo, her great hope for the future.
