The Toscana Tour remains a good place for the German show jumpers - even if victory in the Grand Prix went to England at the last minute.

As the last starter in the jump-off for the Grand Prix (1.55 m) with only five participants, the British bronze medal winners of the 2022 World Championships, Joseph Stockdale and his Holstein mare Cacharel, snatched victory from under Jens Wawrauschek’s nose in the saddle on Mava S. Stockdale’s 15-year-old Cachas daughter needed 43.57 seconds for her clear round, Wawrauschek’s eleven-year-old Brandenburg DSP mare by Messenger 44.64 seconds, also with no faults.

Of the five starters in the jump-off, only three managed a second clear round. The third in the group was Roberto Previtali, a representative of the hosts. He had saddled the Hanoverian stallion Quirinus by Quality Time TN and opted for safety: 49.41 seconds earned him third place thanks to the faults of the others.

The fastest of them all was Michael Viehweg on Contario in 42.83 seconds. However, they paid for their courage to take risks with a knockdown. Nevertheless, fourth place was a great success.

Thanks to a fast four-fault round, Sandra Auffarth and Quirici H also made it into the ribbons. They finished in eighth place.

Marie Ligges on Ballerina, Christian Ahlmann with Untouched LB and Maximilian Weishaupt on Zuccero each had four faults but did not place. Friday’s winners, Gerrit Nieberg and IB Queen, collected two faults this time.

Places two, three, four and more in the Silver Tour

The final of the Silver Tour was over 1.45 meters with a jump-off. Here Denis Lynch (IRL) presented a 13-year-old Belgian Cadeau de Muze son named Mr. Newman. The chestnut is no longer completely new to Lynch. The pair competed together for the first time in August last year. Mr. Newman was brought into the sport by Kai Ruggaber and represented the German colors with him at the EEF Nations’ Cup in Thessaloniki in 2025. However, today was the horse’s first victory in a Grand Prix.

He rode Lynch to victory in a clear 34.61 seconds ahead of Christian Ahlmann on Applebridge Tag Z (0/34.87). Two more German pairs lined up behind them: Marie Ligges with Ruby Go L (0/35.92) and Gerrit Nieberg on the nine-year-old Diamant de Semilly-son Don Plus (0/37.36), who the 2022 Aachen winner has been introducing to higher tasks step by step for a few years now.

Nine pairs made it into the jump-off. The pair with the fastest four-fault round in the first round was the 2018 World Show Jumping Champion, Simone Blum, and the eleven-year-old Hanoverian mare London’s Petite PS by London, who was bred in Lewitz and has been competing with Blum and her husband Hansi for a good four years.

Also still in the money with four faults were Jens Wawrauschek Cellestic Top in 14th place.
