The day before the 1.5 million Grand Prix in Doha
Charles wins in Doha, Dreher places
Harry Charles and Casquo Blue won in Doha. Photo: Lukasz Kowalski Having already won five Grand Prix in Doha, the new world number one Scott Brash is one of the favorites to win the lion’s share of tomorrow’s jackpot in Doha. In today’s five-star highlight, however, things were rather mixed. Hello Mango, who celebrated her first five-star Grand Prix victory in Doha, incurred twelve penalty points in the first round of the 1.55-metre jumping competition.
Things went better for Harry Charles (GBR), among others, who was not only one of the ten riders and their horses to reach the jump-off, but whose trusty, now 16-year-old Casquo Blue (by Chacco-Blue) also delivered the faster of the only two clear rounds in the jump-off. He beat Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano on Esteban de Hus by three hundredths of a second. Belgium’s Pieter Devos finished faster, but with one knockdown, with his eleven-year-old, home-bred Primo DV. That meant third place today.
Hans-Dieter Dreher and Vestmalle des Cotis were also among the pairs who were able to recommend themselves for the jump-off. However, the 17-year-old Baloubet du Rouet son had two knockdowns against the clock.
Philipp Weishaupt on the Congress son Callao L (L as in breeder Kai Ligges) and Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann with My Lady Lavista already scored in the first round.
Vice World Champion of young dressage horses now in the dressage arena for Qatar

Anyone who has ever wondered what actually happened to Nanna Skodborg’s silver medal winner in the seven-year-old age group at the 2021 World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses, Blue Hors Touch of Olympic, will have to watch the CDI1* tour in Doha this weekend. Dressage is now also being ridden there and Touch of Olympic carried his new rider Maryam Ahmad S A Al Bionin to third place in the Prix St. Georges with 66.324 percent.
