But today the FN announced that Philipp Schulze Topphoff will not be competing. The reason: His mare Carla NRW is not as fit as she should be for a start in Texas. As Schulze Topphoff says: “We both have to be completely fit for the journey and the start. We noticed minimal uncertainties in training and therefore decided not to travel.”
As a result, it is now a cloverleaf that will represent German show jumping in Fort Worth: Daniel Deußer with Otello de Guldenboom, Richard Vogel with Gangster Montdesir, René Dittmer on Cody and Patrick Stühlmeyer, who will ride Baloutaire PS. National coach Otto Becker says: “I’m looking forward to great sport and an exciting final in Fort Worth. We hope that everyone arrives safe and sound in Texas and that we can build on the successes of the last Nations Cup in Ocala.”
Philipp Schulze Topphoff will nevertheless be traveling in the next few days – from Havixbeck to Riesenbeck to his future place of work at the Beerbaum Stables.
