Despite the crisis situation in the region, riders from the USA and Europe are also competing in Doha this weekend. One of them won the 5* competition today.

And that was the Austrian Gerfried Puck with his best horse, the 13-year-old Equitron Naxcel V. The Belgian Balou du Rouet son had contributed to the sensational bronze medal with Puck 2023, which secured the Austrian team a starting place at the Olympics in Paris. The pair were also there. There were no medals at stake today in Doha, but 26,500 euros for the winner, which Puck and Naxcel secured thanks to the only clear round in under 40 seconds in the jump-off of the 1.55-metre test.

Puck is one of only a few riders competing in Doha who are not already at home in the region, and he is the only Austrian. In total, there are seven from Europe, three from North America and three from South America. There are also five riders for countries on the African continent.

Second place was secured with two clear rounds by Syrian rider Mohamad Mogheeth Alshebab on the Württemberger DSP gelding Carlotto S ahead of Ali Al Khorafi for Kuwait, who had saddled a KWPN gelding with the very short name I.
