About the HGW National Junior Championships
As the name suggests, Hans Günter Winkler (HGW) was the inventor of this test. It was launched in 1986. It has been supported by the Horst Gebers Foundation since 2024.
Two M** class style jumping tests will be ridden, first a warm-up test, then the final of the best twelve. Of these twelve finalists, the best-placed quartet will compete in a further round. This is where the biggest obstacle awaits, the final of the best four with a horse change – a special challenge for the rider’s basic riding skills and sensitivity.
For riders such as Daniel Deusser, Mario Stevens, Toni Haßmann and Eva Bitter, the HGW National Young Rider Championships was once the launch pad for their careers.
