Why is Victoria Max-Theurer entrusting her 2022 World Cup horse, Topas, to her partner in the 2026 World Cup season? For the best reason in the world.

Victoria Max-Theurer (40) and Stefan Lehfellner (43) are expecting their first child. The 13-time Austrian national champion announced the news on her Instagram page today. It should be ready in September. We wish the parents-to-be all the best!

For this reason, Stefan Lehfellner is presenting Victoria Max-Theurer’s Totilas son Topas in the arena this season. A few days ago, the pair delivered a convincing performance at the scouting tournament in Ebreichsdorf, where they won the Grand Prix with a good 70 percent. This means they now have the formal requirements in their pocket to be allowed to take part in international Grand Prix tournaments. To do so, they must have achieved at least 67% in a national Grand Prix in Austria.

Topas’ last international tournament was almost a year ago. At the beginning of April, Vicky Max-Theurer won the Grand Prix and Special with him at her home show in Achelten (CDI4*). She would have been seeded for the European Championships in Crozet with her Olympic horse Abegglen, but she decided not to compete because she felt that the gelding, once trained by Marcus Hermes, was not in top form.

Her second iron in the fire, the now eleven-year-old L’Espoir by Rubin-Royal, in half-Lusitano from the successful breeding of Sylvain Massa, was also on the shortlist for the team, but a start here would have been too early, Max-Theurer told Pferderevue at the time. He was the last horse she rode internationally. At the CDI3* in Hagen in September, she came ninth in the Grand Prix (67.935 percent) and went one better in the Special: second place with 70.787 percent.
