So Special has a new rider
New rider for dressage horse world championship finalist So Special
In 2025, So Special represented the German colors under Jessica Lynn Thomas at the World Championships for five-year-old dressage horses. Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de Pia Sophie Wahlers, quasi the junior boss of W.M. Stud, is the official breeder of So Special. The stallion is a son of Gestüt W.M.’s flagship Secret. The dam is by Bon Coeur. He also began his career at the stallion station in Lower Saxony before being sold to Lövsta Stud in Sweden.
Championships and world championship ribbons
So Special lived up to his name as a three-year-old when he took second place at the Hanoverian Championships and then also won the silver medal at the Bundeschampionat. A year later he won in Verden. His team decided not to compete at the Bundeschampionat and instead traveled to Ermelo, where an international competition for four-year-olds is always held as part of the World Championships, effectively an unofficial World Championships for this age group. So Special did not disappoint: second place.
This season, the stallion convinced the strict selection panel for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and was allowed to compete in the five-year-old class. With third place in the small final, he qualified for the decision by a wafer-thin margin. In terms of potential, he was one of the best. However, he was so impermeable that he had no chance of one of the top places. He ended his season in fourth place at the Bundeschampionat.
New Home Bavaria
Now the Grand Prix rider Philipp Mücke, who works at Gut Weiglschwaig in Moosburg an der Isar, has posted a riding video with So Special on his Instagram page. In the caption, he thanks Gestüt WM for entrusting him with the stallion. The 34-year-old Mücke is victorious up to Grand Prix level. Among others, World Cup finalist and former U25 European Champion Raphael Netz and his girlfriend Selina Söder also work at Gut Weiglschwaig.
