Now it has really happened. Shortly after their sensational performance in Neumünster, the news comes that Justin Verboomen's Djembe de Hus has been sold.

As Eurodressage reports, Djembe de Hus has been sold to a Swiss dressage rider who has no major competition ambitions. The sale of the chestnut was brokered by the Belgian horse dealer Dominique Mohimont. There had been many offers for the Damon Hill son, especially after Neumünster, but Mohimont and Justin Verboomen agreed after the trial that the Swiss customer and Djembe de Hus were a perfect match. He will have a “five-star home”.

Too bad for Justin Verboomen, who clearly stated in Neumünster that the gelding was for sale.

About Djembe de Hus

The eleven-year-old Djembe de Hus is an Oldenburg son of Damon Hill. He has only been under the saddle of Justin Verboomen since May. The colorful chestnut actually comes from France. He was born at Xavier Marie’s Haras de Hus and was trained by Olympic rider Jessica Michel Botton, who is responsible for the stud’s dressage division. They won the French equivalent of the Bundeschampionat twice. In 2021, they were finalists at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses.

During Botton’s pregnancy in 2022/23, Djembe de Hus was brought to Germany, where Marcus Hermes took care of him – with great success. The gelding won his first Intermédiaire II with Hermes.

Xavier Marie then decided to part with his entire horse property, including the stud farm. However, Djembe de Hus was not sold. He first stood with Alizee Froment before moving to Verboomen in May. The two were a “perfect match”. At their show debut in Troisdorf at the beginning of October, they won the Grand Prix and Special with 73.782 and 73.107 percent respectively. Mechelen was their second international appearance where, as in Neumünster, they finished second in the World Cup Freestyle behind Larissa Pauluis and Flambeau.
