Beyond the show jumping course – News from the show jumping scene
Different reasons, same result - it will be a while before Jana Wargers and Marcus Ehning are back in action for Germany. Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de As Jana Wargers explained to our colleagues at spring-reiter.de, she is currently taking a break from riding because she and her partner Michael Lürwer are expecting their first child at the beginning of July. During her pregnancy, the 34-year-old World Championship rider is concentrating primarily on teaching. After that, however, she wants to get back in the saddle and ride again for Ashford Farm, her employer in Belgium, which she also kept when she moved back to Germany in May 2025 to settle at the Lürwer family’s facility in Nordwalde in Münsterland. Her top horse Dorette, meanwhile, is not taking a break. The 17-year-old Oldenburg mare, who has completed so many clear rounds in Nations Cups for Germany and with whom Wargers won the Global Tour show jumping competition in Riyadh last year, will be kept fit during her rider’s break by her Ashford colleague Marlon Zanotelli. He will also be competing in tournaments with the Dollar du Murier daughter.
The knee – forced break for Marcus Ehning
While his younger brother came second in the Grand Prix of Münster yesterday for the third time (!), Marcus Ehning has to watch from the sidelines. He is not allowed to get in the saddle for the next few days because he has injured his knee. He announced this himself via his social media. There is talk of “several weeks”.
All the best for the parents-to-be and get well soon for Marcus Ehning!
