"Pferd International," a major event in Munich scheduled for Ascension Day weekend, is set to take place in 2027 after all
Munich – “Pferd International” Saved
The Pferd International in Munich is now set to take place again in 2027 after all. Next up is Pferd International in Munich. Scheduled for its usual date—the Ascension Day weekend—this “total work of art,” comprising a trade show, dressage and show jumping competitions, and working equitation, is set to take place in 2027. This means that Germany’s competitive riders are once again faced with the question of whether to travel to Hamburg or Munich for Ascension Day (May 6–9, 2927).
The future of Pferd International was in doubt. At first, the event had been canceled.
Working Together for Pferd International Munich
, representatives of
the
shareholders of Olympia-Reitanlagen GmbH, the Blum family—which is closely involved in the organization through Hippo Pferdeveranstaltungs GmbH—and other groups that use the Munich-Riem facility gathered on October 7 to discuss a collaboration. According to a press release, “representatives of the Landesverband Bayerischer Pferdezüchter e.V. (Bavarian Horse Breeders’ Association) with Tobias Galmbacher (President), the Bavarian Riding and Driving Association with Managing Director Thomas Schreder, the Munich Riding Academy, course designer Jacqueline Schmieder, and BAYERNS PFERDE Breeding and Sport” were also present.

It was decided to work more closely together. As a result, areas of responsibility will be redefined, and shareholders active at the Olympia Equestrian Center will be “more closely involved in organization, operations, and planning.” The team expects that closer collaboration will enhance synergies. Accordingly, the offerings for participants, exhibitors, and visitors are to be expanded once again. More specific measures will be discussed and communicated in the near future.
As of now, the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has not listed any tournaments in Munich for that date. In dressage in particular, riders have long been drawn to the Bavarian capital because a CDI5* event was held there. In addition, Munich has traditionally been a stop on the Nuremberg Burg Cup circuit. In 2026, five-star-level competitions were announced for the first time as part of the German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby in Hamburg. This led to the unfortunate situation where two of the very few such high-prize-money competitions on the German calendar took place at the same time.
