Perseverance Sheer Magic now under Michael Jung
New bush horse with star potential for Michael Jung

Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de Michael Jung’s new addition is the eight-year-old Hanoverian Perseverance Sheer Magic, a son of Diacontinus out of a Stolzenberg dam bred by Jürgen Kastens. The gray stallion’s birth name is Damakil. He was given his new name by his new owner Madeleine Brugman.
Sheer Magic gained his first competition experience in tests for young show jumpers with Pietro Grandis and Heike Jahncke. Last year, he was then presented by Brandon Schäfer-Gehrau in his first eventing competitions. The newly qualified Pferdewirtschaftsmeister rode for Brugman last year, but has since moved to Tim Lips’ stables, so he remains loyal to the Netherlands. Sheer Magic competed with him in five international CCI1* Intro competitions last year. They finished them all, the first one in second place. The gray horse only took a pole in the course once. Otherwise, he did not have any faults in either the cross-country or jumping competitions.
Second Brugman horse for Jung
Madeleine Brugman already knew that the collaboration with Michael Jung worked well before she entrusted Sheer Magic to him, as the four-time Olympic champion has also been riding the nine-year-old Hanoverian mare Perseverance Funky Famous Flamborghini, or Funky for short, for her since the middle of last year. The mare, bred by Gabriele Heemsoth, is a Stakkato granddaughter through her sire Szenario and already had CCI3* experience before coming to Jung. Tine Magnus (BEL), Dennis Huits (NED) and Matteo Orlandi (ITA) had previously ridden her. Jung presented them four times last year, twice at two-star level and twice at three-star level. Each time they finished in the top ten and ended the season in third place in their first CCI3*-L.
But Sheer Magic has even more potential than Funky Famous Flamborghini in the eyes of his owner, owner Madeleine Brugman is convinced. In any case, he will stay with Michael Jung for the time being. “I’m sure he’s a horse with all the potential. We’ll see how far we get,” Brugman told EQUI PAGES.
Incidentally, Michael Jung is not the only German rider who rides horses for Brugman. Ben Leuwer, for example, is presenting the six-year-old Harley VDL son Perseverance Happy Go Lucky, bred by herself, as well as the twelve-year-old Great Warrior d’Ive Z, who recently won the CCI1* Intro in Strzegom. Claas Romeike has the seven-year-old Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve-daughter Perseverance Temilly’s Taycan under the saddle, who has only had show jumping experience to date.
