Nations Cup Final: Julia Krajewski Leads After Dressage in Boekelo; Team Germany in a Close Second Place

Photo: Ashley Claus It can’t be said that the dressage judges at the Eventing Nations Cup in Boekleo were in agreement. The scoring was somewhat reminiscent of what lies ahead tomorrow: the cross-country. While two judges placed Julia Krajewski and Ero de Cantraie in first place, Australian judge Polly Ann Huntington ranked the pair eleventh. She rated Brazilian rider Marcio Cavalho Jorge—who was in third place after the dressage—as having the 23rd-best performance out of the 91 pairs on the start list.
Krajewski Leads in Boekelo After Dressage
Julia Krajewski, with 23.9 penalty points, is 1.5 points ahead of Burghley champion Gemma Stevens, who had been in the lead after the first day of dressage with Chilli Morning IV (25.4). In third place is the aforementioned Brazilian rider Cavalho Jorge (26.0).
Tied for third place with him is the 2022 world champion, Britain’s Yasmin Ingham, who rode the nine-year-old Kinda Corvette around the arena with a score of 26.0. The gelding’s pedigree promises great things. His sire is the Holsteiner Diarado, and his dam is by Jaguar Mail—a meeting of the cream of the crop among celebrity show jumping stallions in his pedigree.
With 26.9 penalty points, Ingrid Klimke and Kallista by Chatman placed eighth, making her the second-best German rider. However, Klimke will not be riding for the team in this Nations Cup Final in Boekelo. Along with Nadine Marzahl and Victoria (27.1/10th), Christoph Wahler and Gainsboourg de Bedon (27.5/12th), as well as Antonia Baumgart with Ris de Talm (27.5/13th) and Arne Bergendahl with Bronco NRW, who stayed under 30 penalty points, (27.7), six Germans are among the top 15.

Under the new format, previous results are irrelevant. Everyone starts from zero. As a result, Germany is just behind the British team (Yasmin Ingham/Kinda Corvette, Katie Magee/Cushlas Indigo, Kirsty Chabert/Classic VI, and Gemma Stevens with her second horse Cooley Park Muze, 78.8 penalty points) in second place with 79.1 penalty points. The U.S. team is in third place with 84.0 penalty points.
