For the Badminton Horse Trials 2026, the supporters and sponsors have put almost 50,000 pounds more into the pot.
The total prize money is 451,500 pounds, 125,000 for the winner of the CCI5*-L. This corresponds to 521,230 or 144,320 euros, which the successful riders can look forward to. According to the organizers, this is the highest prize money ever in eventing.
“We are delighted to have been able to increase the prize money for this tournament, which once again promises excellent and exciting sport,” said badminton tournament director Jane Tuckwell. “The standard was so high last year that we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another great weekend of sport. We might even see the future World Champion in action!” she said, looking ahead to the highlight of the 2026 season, the World Equestrian Games in Aachen.
The defending champion in Badminton is Ros Canter with her Grafenstolz son Lordships Graffalo, aka “Walter”. She will try to secure her share of the record prize money. “Badminton is the eventing tournament that everyone knows and everyone wants to win. I can’t wait to give it another go,” says the 2018 world champion and Olympic team champion.
