The qualifying Grand Prix for the World Cup dressage stage starts tomorrow morning at 10.15 am in Amsterdam. Also taking part: Isabell Werth and Wendy. This was not planned, but it makes the stage a lot more exciting, as they will meet the world champions.

Charlotte Fry and Glamourdale were missing from the Top 12 Final in Frankfurt. They were competing at the World Cup tournament in London, in Fry’s home country, because although she lives in the Netherlands, she still competes for her native Great Britain. There, the world champions rehabilitated themselves a little for the European Championships in Crozet, where the Lord Leatherdale son showed himself to be well below form.

Meanwhile, Isabell Werth was in action with Wendy in Frankfurt at the premiere of the aforementioned Top 12 Final and finished third in the freestyle behind Justin Verboomen on Zonik Plus and Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour with Freestyle – the same order as in Crozet’s individual European Championship rankings.

This weekend will be the first reunion between Werth and Fry with their two top horses since the European Championships. Isabell Werth had actually wanted to ride Quantaz in Amsterdam. But this morning she reported the change of plans.

Gut feeling

Werth said on social media that she had changed her mind because her gut feeling told her after Basel that she and Wendy “really needed to get back into the flow a bit”. The experience from Frankfurt to Basel was good and now it’s on to Amsterdam.

In Basel, the mare had made a very tense impression in the Grand Prix, especially in the canter. Werth later reported that it had been very windy in the warm-up tent, which had been the reason. In the freestyle, the mare was already much more concentrated.

Quantaz goes USA

Instead, Quantaz will soon be delighting the US public in Wellington, Florida. With the now 16-year-old son of Quaterback from Brandenburg, Werth is also aiming for the World Cup Final from April 8-12 in Fort Worth, Texas – the fourth for the pair after 2023, ’24 and ’25, where they finished third twice and second once. It would be World Cup number 27 for Werth!

View of Amsterdam

In addition to the stars Charlotte Fry/Glamourdale and Werth/Wendy, the British duo Becky Moody/Jagerbomb and Moritz Treffinger/Fiderdance will be returning to Amsterdam. Charlotte Dujardin’s performance with her Westphalian mare Alive and Kicking by All at Once (who is competing in the U25 tour) will also be exciting.

Dujardin made her comeback with this now twelve-year-old mare in front of a large crowd at the World Cup tournament in London. London was the first World Cup tournament for the three-time Olympic champion since her ban due to a video that emerged shortly before the Olympic Games in Paris and showed Dujardin hitting the rider’s horse hard from below while teaching another rider.

For Alive and Kicking, it was the first time ever that she had competed at a World Cup tournament in London. After finishing second in the Grand Prix behind Fry and Glamourdale with 76.544 percent, the mare still seemed quite overwhelmed in the freestyle. She will have her next chance on Saturday at 10.45 am.
