The Hanoverian stallion Varido by Von und Zu, pictured here with Janina Tietze during what was his only competition appearance to date, and now with Charlott-Maria Schürmann.
Photo: sportfotos-lafrentz.de 9.0 for trot, rideability, and conformation; 9.5 for canter; 10.0 for walk—the three-year-old chestnut stallion Varido by Von und Zu-For Romance I, bred by Friederike Pelzer, left little to be desired as he was crowned Hanoverian Champion with a final score of 9.3. At the time, he was still owned by IB Berger Reit- und Turnierpferde GmbH and was presented by Janina Tietze. Varido did not compete at the Bundeschampionat. But it’s quite possible that he’ll have a say in the most important young horse competitions in the coming years. After all, he now has both new owners and a new rider.
Charlott-Maria Schürmann is now riding Varido, who is owned by Contern Dressage in Luxembourg. They have been working successfully with Charlott-Maria Schürmann for quite some time. She has already trained Life Time—her World Champion and Burg Cup winner —for this stable. Charlott says:

Friederike Pelzer has already bred two older licensed stallions out of Varido’s dam: the premium-awarded Barbarossa by Bonds (6) and a full brother two years his junior. In addition, the mare has produced premium-award-winning foals and is herself a half-sister to the licensed Bel Espoir by Benicio. The bloodline also includes, among others, the U.S. Grand Prix horse Cantaris by Compliment, also bred by Pelzer.
